Instagram has released an updated app to address battery drain issues on Android devices. The update, build 382.0.0.49.84, is now available for download from the Google Play Store.
To ensure you’re running the latest version, go to the Play Store, tap your profile picture, and select Manage apps and device. Look for an “Updates” section where you can press “Update” on Instagram if necessary.
Check your current app version by searching for Instagram on the Play Store and scrolling down to “About this app.” The current version will be listed along with the last update date.
This fix is not exclusive to Pixel phones, as Google stated it’s intended to resolve issues across various Android devices. However, some Pixel owners have reported battery life problems since the May 2025 update, which were later linked to Instagram.
