Oahu Confirms Travel-Related Zika Virus Case, Warns Public

Health officials have confirmed a travel-related Zika virus case on Oahu’s North Shore, prompting warnings for residents to avoid mosquito bites. Two others may have been exposed in the areas of Waialua and Haleiwa.

Vector control teams have been deployed to monitor potential disease-spreading species. This marks Hawaii’s first Zika case in six years, with the last travel-related incident reported in 2019.
