Marvel Rivals Healers Under Siege as Players Flock to Duelists

Marvel Rivals players are complaining that there aren’t enough healers being picked, leaving teams struggling. The game’s launch has sparked discussions on the Strategist role, which is equivalent to Overwatch’s Support role, but most players are opting for Duelists and Vanguards instead. This lack of healer selection is a repeat of 2016 Overwatch discourse.

The issue was noted by Reddit user LlamaManLuke, who stated that “the team with healers wins more often than the one without.” NetEase has made support heroes more attractive with traditional damage dealer abilities, but this hasn’t increased their popularity. The class shares weaknesses with Overwatch supports, making them vulnerable to enemy duelists.

The debate surrounding healer selection is reminiscent of 2016 Overwatch discussions, where players struggled to balance personal preference with team needs. Blizzard introduced role-based LFG party systems and enforced even balance between roles in 2019. Marvel Rivals fans have argued the game needs a role queue since alpha tests, but NetEase hopes players won’t prioritize team composition.

Ultimately, the issue comes down to how competitive Marvel Rivals should be. If the game follows Overwatch’s trajectory, it may address imbalanced teams and chaotic fights. Alternatively, NetEase might encourage players to focus on other aspects of gameplay.
