Vikings GM Kwesi Adofo-Mensah Signs Five-Year Contract Extension

Minnesota Vikings General Manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah has signed a new four-year contract extension, bringing stability to the team’s football leadership group nearly five months after signing coach Kevin O’Connell. The deal keeps Adofo-Mensah as the top decision-maker for the team.

Adofo-Mensah and O’Connell initially signed similar four-year contracts in 2022. However, O’Connell’s new five-year deal does not appear to impact Adofo-Mensah’s length. ESPN previously reported that O’Connell’s contract did not alter personnel authority, ensuring Adofo-Mensah remains the team’s top decision-maker.

“We’re building a winning culture,” Adofo-Mensah said in a statement. “I’m thankful for the trust from the Wilf family and excited to continue leading our football operation.”

Team owner Mark Wilf praised Adofo-Mensah, saying his leadership has positioned the Vikings for sustained success. The team has seen improvement under Adofo-Mensah’s guidance, with two playoff appearances since his hiring.

Despite Adofo-Mensah’s tenure, his drafts have been less productive than expected, relying on free agency and trades to fill roster gaps. However, he made significant strides in free agency last year, adding three Pro Bowlers to the team.

Adofo-Mensah aims to build a perennial contender. His extension signifies the team has solidified its long-term vision. The Vikings now have a clear direction as they move forward with their football operation.
