Lando Norris Grabs Abu Dhabi Pole, McLaren Secures Constructors’ Title Bid

McLaren driver Lando Norris secured pole position at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, ahead of team-mate Oscar Piastri. This result puts McLaren in a strong position to clinch their first constructors’ title since 1998. Norris edged Piastri by 0.209 seconds.

Ferrari’s Carlos Sainz took third place. However, his teammate Charles Leclerc will start at the back due to a 10-place grid penalty and exceeding track limits in qualifying. Ferrari currently trails McLaren by 21 points heading into Sunday’s race.

McLaren’s pole position is a result of a thrilling qualifying session. Meanwhile, Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton qualified 18th, his final race for the team. His lap time was affected when he collided with Kevin Magnussen’s Haas car after it was dislodged from its place.
