Aston Martin F1 driver Lance Stroll will not compete in Sunday’s Spanish Grand Prix due to recurring pain in his right hand and wrist. The Canadian, who sustained injuries during a training ride in February 2023, underwent surgery after fracturing both wrists and a toe.
Stroll had qualified 14th for the Spanish GP but will now miss the event after experiencing discomfort that his medical team believes is related to the previous injury. He will undergo a procedure to rectify the issue before focusing on recovery.
Aston Martin confirmed Stroll’s withdrawal, citing concerns about exacerbating the existing pain. The Canadian Grand Prix is scheduled for two weeks from Friday 13 June, and Stroll will aim to be fit for that event. With Stroll withdrawing, Aston Martin will enter only one car in the Spanish GP, with Fernando Alonso taking part on behalf of his teammate.
