Social Security Payments Delayed in June Due to Calendar Adjustments

Millions of Americans relying on Social Security and Supplemental Security Income (SSI) payments may notice an unusual gap in the disbursement schedule for June 2025. The Social Security Administration (SSA) will issue payments early, but without a payment in early June due to a scheduling adjustment.

In 1997, beneficiaries who began receiving benefits before then can expect their payments on June 3. Birthdates between the 1st-10th and the 11th-20th will receive their payments on June 11 and 18, respectively. Those with birthdates between the 21st-31st will get their payments on June 25.

A similar scheduling adjustment is expected in August, October, and December due to the first day of each month falling on a weekend or holiday. In these months, beneficiaries can expect double payments on consecutive days, including August 1 and 29, October 1 and 31, and December 1 and 31.

To manage finances effectively, it’s essential for Social Security beneficiaries to stay informed about payment schedules, plan ahead, and consider enrolling in direct deposit. The SSA will issue early payments when the first day of a month falls on a weekend or holiday, but this does not affect the overall payment schedule.
