Rihanna’s father, Ronald Fenty, has reportedly died in Los Angeles at the age of 70. A cause of death is not immediately known, but it was reported to be a brief illness. The singer and her family are gathering in California to honor his life.
Fenty’s relationship with Rihanna was complex, marked by tumultuous moments such as when he sold information about her to the media after she was assaulted by Chris Brown in 2009. However, despite this, Fenty continued to support Rihanna’s success. In fact, he was “ecstatic” when she announced her pregnancy last year.
Rihanna has not publicly commented on her father’s death, but a photo obtained by Page Six showed her brother Rajad arriving at the hospital to visit him. The singer and her father also had a falling out over the use of the Fenty name, with Rihanna ultimately filing a lawsuit against him in 2019.
