IO Interactive Unveils 007: First Light as James Bond Game Title

IOI has officially announced the title of its highly anticipated James Bond game, which is set to be revealed later this week. The game will be called 007: First Light, and a full reveal is promised for next Friday’s Summer Game Fest opening night.

Developed by IO Interactive, the upcoming James Bond game was first announced in 2021, with few details since then. However, IOI has confirmed that it hopes to release an origin story that will be the start of a trilogy, rather than simply adapting a movie.

The studio’s boss, Hakan Abrak, described the game as “a new Bond” built from the ground up for gamers, promising a traditional and exciting experience with all the history and tradition of James Bond. The game is also confirmed to be coming to Switch 2, although no release date has been announced yet.

As part of its 25th anniversary celebrations, IOI will host an online showcase, known as the IO Showcase, which will feature news on 007: First Light, fresh Hitman content, and more. The event will take place this Friday at 6pm PDT, and viewers can watch it live via Twitch, YouTube, and TikTok.

In addition to the game’s reveal, there are promises of “trailers, announcements, gameplay demos, and a live Q&A” during the showcase, as well as special guests and a look at IO’s game engine, Glacier.
