AMD has released its new Radeon RX 9060 XT graphics cards, priced and configured to undercut Nvidia’s RTX 5060 and 5060 Ti at $299 and $349 for the 8GB and 16GB models. The RDNA 4 architecture is a major upgrade over previous generations, promising twice as much performance in each compute unit compared to its predecessors.
The RX 9060 XT boasts 64 compute units, surpassing Nvidia’s RTX 5060 with 56 units. While the boost clocks may not be as high, the RX 9060 XT still manages impressive speeds of up to 3,130 MHz. The memory bandwidth and interface have been optimized for better performance.
AMD is focusing on addressing the midrange GPU gap by offering a more affordable option with 16GB of GDDR6 memory. This will help alleviate RAM limitations that are becoming increasingly prevalent in lower-end cards.
The RX 9060 XT’s specs appear similar to those of last year’s RX 7600 and RX 7600 XT, but AMD claims each RDNA4 CU is significantly more capable than its predecessors. With these new midrange GPUs, AMD is now giving Nvidia a run for its money, challenging the company’s lead in performance and power efficiency.
As with previous GPU releases, it remains to be seen how well the RX 9060 XT will perform in real-world applications. However, one thing is certain: AMD has made a bold move to reclaim some market share from Nvidia in the midrange segment.
