Whole Foods Organic Ground Beef Recall Over E. Coli Concerns

The US Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) has issued a public health warning about organic ground beef distributed to Whole Foods Market retail locations, due to potential contamination with E. coli O157:H7. The affected product was shipped to distributor locations in four states and distributed nationwide.

Consumers who purchased the ground beef should check their packages for specific labeling information and packaging details, including an Animal Welfare Certification seal, a “Use or Freeze By” date, and an establishment number. Affected products were produced on May 22-23, 2025, and bear the label “ORGANIC RANCHER ORGANIC GROUND BEEF 85% LEAN 15% FAT”.

If you still have the product in your refrigerator or freezer, it’s recommended to discard or return it. There are currently no reported illnesses associated with this recall. For more information, contact Danny Desautels at NPC Processing, Inc., President.

E. coli O157:H7 is a deadly bacterium that can cause dehydration, diarrhea, and abdominal cramps, with symptoms typically appearing 2-8 days after exposure. While most people recover within a week, some may develop complications.
