Midea Air Conditioner Recall Due to Mold Growth Risk

A recall has been issued for certain Midea air conditioners due to the risk of mold growth, which can lead to respiratory issues and other infections. The affected models were sold in various brands, including Midea, Comfort Aire, Danby, Frigidaire, Insignia, Keystone, LBG Products, Mr. Cool, Perfect Aire, and Sea Breeze.

The recall affects air conditioners with model numbers MAW08AV1QWT, GHWQ085WD1, and MAW08V1QWT-S, among others. Consumers who own these units are advised to contact Midea for a free repair or a full or prorated refund.

According to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), there have been at least 152 reports of mold in the affected air conditioners, including 17 reports of consumers experiencing symptoms such as respiratory infections, allergic reactions, coughing, sneezing, and sore throats from mold exposure.
