Man Charged in Bomb Threat Call at Detroit Metro Airport

A 23-year-old Monroe man has been charged with making a bomb threat call to Detroit Metro Airport after he missed his flight. John Charles Robinson allegedly made the call, claiming there was a bomb on Spirit Airlines Flight 2145, bound for Los Angeles.

According to authorities, Robinson had booked the flight but arrived late and was told he needed to rebook. Instead of rescheduling, he called Spirit Airlines and reported a threat, providing details about a suspect carrying a bomb. The plane was diverted to a remote area, where passengers were safely deplaned before being transported back to the terminal.

Federal authorities launched an investigation that led them to Robinson, who was boarding another flight to Los Angeles when arrested. He was released on his own recognizance and is set for another court appearance on June 27.
