Apple’s upcoming WWDC25 keynote on Monday, June 9, will mark a significant milestone in the company’s operating system history, as it unveils its biggest OS redesign since iOS 7. The new design will also be accompanied by various welcome features and improvements across all Apple operating systems.
While much of the spotlight will likely shine on the visual overhaul, behind-the-scenes enhancements to everyday apps like Messages, Music, Notes, and CarPlay are also expected to make waves. Here are five lesser-known features that could be announced as early as iOS 26:
Automatic Translation in Messages: Apple is working on automatic translation for incoming and outgoing messages, making it easier for users to communicate with people from different languages.
Polls Integration: Apple will add support for polls to Messages, allowing users to easily create and share polls within their conversations. This feature may also be integrated with Apple Intelligence.
Full-Screen Animated Lock Screen Artwork in Music: The company is taking the Now Playing view a step further by animating full-screen album art on the Lock Screen itself.
Markdown Export in Notes: Apple is working on supporting Markdown export from Apple Notes, allowing users to easily format and share their notes.
New UI for CarPlay: Apple will bring its new design language to CarPlay, matching the changes made to iOS 26. This update is expected to improve the overall user experience for CarPlay users.
