Porsche has created a one-of-one street-legal version of its 963 hypercar for 88-year-old billionaire and racing team owner Roger Penske. The car, dubbed the 963 RSP, is inspired by the racing version that Penske’s drivers compete with in the IMSA and WEC sports prototype program.
Penske has been a loyal Porsche fan since his early racing days in the 1950s, making this gift even more special. The 963 RSP features the same Martini Silver paint as the classic Count Rossi 917, but without the sponsor logos. Inside, you’ll find a bespoke leather and Alcantara interior, complete with a 3D-printed cup holder to accommodate Penske’s love of coffee.
The car’s engine has been remapped to run on pump gas, producing an undisclosed power number, although Porsche says it was a “significant undertaking” to re-tune the engine. The full carbon chassis is built by Multimatic and features soft suspension settings for comfortable road driving.
While Penske may not plan to use the car frequently, Porsche has made adjustments to make it more driver-friendly. The 963 RSP can be driven on public roads under special circumstances and with local requirements, but it’s not a production model and will likely come with a hefty price tag.
