Keyshawn Davis’ Title Bid Falls After Weight Miss

Top Rank announced that Keyshawn Davis’ fight with Edwin De Los Santos is off after Davis missed weight by 4.3 pounds, exceeding the 135-pound limit. The fight was scheduled for Saturday night at Scope Arena in Norfolk, Virginia. As a result, Davis was stripped of his WBO lightweight title.

De Los Santos’ promoter, Sampson Lewkowicz, stated that the two sides could not come to an agreement after negotiating a 10-pound weight reduction and additional financial compensation. Lewkowicz expressed concerns about repeating the mistakes made by other fighters, such as Devin Haney and Ryan Garcia, who both had their bouts overturned due to weight issues.

Lewkowicz emphasized his focus on De Los Santos’ well-being, hoping that he would set a positive example in the boxing community. Meanwhile, Keyshawn Davis will now face Nahir Albright in a junior lightweight bout at the co-main event.
