Four Major Food Recalls Impacted Big-Name Brands This Week

A total of four major food recalls affected several big-name brands this week. The recalls were issued due to bacterial contamination, mislabeling, and an undeclared allergen.

Ground beef from Whole Foods was recalled due to E. coli contamination. The product, Organic Rancher Organic Ground Beef 85% Lean 15% Fat, had a use-or-freeze-by date of June 19-25 and June 20-25. Consumers are advised to throw away the ground beef and monitor for signs of E. coli infection.

Topo Chico Mineral Water from Costco was recalled due to bacteria contamination. The water may contain Pseudomonas aeruginosa, a naturally occurring bacteria that can cause minor health consequences in people with weakened immune systems.

Dr Pepper Zero Sugar was recalled due to a labeling mistake. The product contains the full amount of sugar listed on the label, rather than zero sugar. Consumers are advised to return the product for a full refund.

Jerky products from several brands were recalled due to an undeclared anchovy allergen. The recall affects over 15,000 pounds of jerky and snack sticks from various manufacturers, including Uncommon Ground, Papa Rays World Famous Jerky, and Wild Green Water Ranch. Consumers are advised to toss or return the affected products.

Consumers can check the USDA Food Safety and Inspection Service website for a full list of recalled products and lot codes.
