Tom Aspinall Declares Jon Jones Retired

UFC interim heavyweight champion Tom Aspinall has declared Jon Jones retired, citing his frustration with waiting for a potential unification bout between the two fighters. In an interview on ESPN’s “Good Guy/Bad Guy” podcast, Aspinall stated that he is ready to move on from the wait and become the undisputed heavyweight champion of the world.

Aspinall expressed disappointment in Jones’ camp, saying they have been waiting too long for a fight to materialize. He also claimed that the contenders are getting tired of waiting, and even fans are losing interest. The UFC has not made any new comments on the status of the potential fight since Dana White previously expressed optimism.

Aspinall pointed out that almost all top-ranked heavyweights currently have a fight booked, leaving him stuck in limbo. He stated his intention to be announced as his next move “soon” in conjunction with the UFC, ready to take on all comers and shake up the division.

Jones, 37, is widely regarded as one of the greatest fighters of all time, having recently defended his heavyweight title against Stipe Miocic. However, Aspinall has taken a strong stance, declaring Jones retired and himself the rightful champion.
