Ram, a brand owned by Stellantis, is set to return to NASCAR’s top truck series next year, marking the first time a new manufacturer has entered the league at the national level since 2007. CEO Tim Kuniskis announced the comeback on Sunday before a Cup race at Michigan International Speedway.
Kuniskis plans for Ram to be disruptive in the truck series, with an intention to tap into NASCAR’s estimated fan base of 20 million and increase it to 80-100 million. The company aims to make a significant impact with its trucks and has vowed to make 25 product announcements over the next 18 months.
Ram will compete alongside rival manufacturers Ford, Chevrolet, and Toyota in the third-tier truck series. Kuniskis hinted that other brands may be joining Ram in the coming years, but he declined to disclose further details.
“We have a plan, we know how we’re going to do it,” Kuniskis said. “We think people are going to like the way we’re doing it because it’s going to be fun.” The company is set to field four to six trucks at Daytona for the opener next February.
