Israeli PM Hails Assad’s Regime Fall as Result of Iran Attack

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said the fall of Bashar Assad’s regime in Syria was a direct result of Israel’s attacks on Iran and Hezbollah. The comments came after news broke that Assad had fled Damascus with his family, and Islamist rebels took control of the city. Netanyahu warned that the collapse of the Assad regime poses significant dangers.

The Israeli leader hailed the historic day as an opportunity for the Middle East but cautioned that it also comes with threats. He noted that Israel’s action against Hezbollah and Iran prompted a chain reaction, freeing various groups from tyranny. Netanyahu also mentioned the collapse of the 1974 Separation of Forces Agreement between Israel and Syria, which had held for 50 years.

Netanyahu offered a “hand of peace” to people in Syria, including Muslims who want to live in peace with Israel. However, he emphasized that if peaceful relations cannot be established, Israel will take action to defend its borders and the State of Israel.
