Xbox Games Showcase 2025 left fans disappointed with the absence of major franchises like Forza and Halo. However, Xbox boss Phil Spencer promised that next year will bring significant updates.
The long-awaited Gears of War: E-Day has been delayed until 2026, alongside the next Forza game as part of Microsoft’s 25th anniversary celebration. Announced a year ago at the Xbox Games Showcase 2024, E-Day is set to be a prequel, exploring the origins of classic heroes Marcus Fenix and Dominic Santiago.
“Gears of War: E-Day is not just our next major game; it’s a return to what makes Gears of War games special and authentic,” said Mike Crump, Coalition studio boss. People Can Fly, known for Bulletstorm and Gears of War: Judgment, will co-develop the game with The Coalition.
For now, fans have Gears of War: Reloaded to look forward to, a remake of the original title launching on August 26 for PC, Xbox Series X/S, and PlayStation 5.
