Ram, a truck brand under Stellantis, has announced its return to NASCAR in time for the 2026 Craftsman Truck Series season. The company unveiled its Ram 1500 concept race truck at Michigan International Speedway on Sunday.
The reveal comes after Dodge left NASCAR following Brad Keselowski’s Cup Series championship win in 2012. However, Ram’s CEO Tim Kuniskis emphasizes that their return has nothing to do with Dodge, which is a separate entity from the brand.
Kuniskis stated that Ram aims to compete at the Cup Series level in the future but will first focus on Daytona next year and work out the logistics for a potential Cup Series reentry. He noted that Ram lacks a car currently, making it necessary for Dodge to return if they want to participate.
Ram has not yet finalized driver lineups or team partnerships for its NASCAR endeavors. Kuniskis likens this process to finding a date for prom, saying they have the truck and the tuxedo but need to determine who will accompany them to the event.
The company is eager to reenter the sport due to its massive fan base of 20 million NASCAR enthusiasts, with half of those fans driving pickup trucks.
