Dodge’s parent company Stellantis will enter NASCAR racing in 2026 with the Ram brand competing in the Craftsman Truck Series. The move is seen as a stepping stone towards expanding into the Cup Series.
Ram’s entry into the truck series was announced on Sunday, and CEO Tim Kinuskis hopes to have four to six trucks for the 2026 season opener at Daytona. Kinuskis emphasized that the team’s goal is not just to succeed in trucks but also to eventually compete in the Cup Series.
The Ram program aims to elevate fan engagement, with YouTube star Cleetus McFarland linked to the project. Dodge had previously competed in the Cup Series from 2001-2012 before exiting the sport.
NASCAR officials acknowledge that re-entering the Cup Series would require significant engine development and body design, a process that could take at least 18 months. However, Kinuskis remains committed to returning to the Cup Series, saying “our full intention is to be back in Cup.”
The trucks’ participation in the series is seen as an ideal entry point for manufacturers, allowing them to gain experience without having to immediately develop a competitive engine. Ram’s move is expected to be watched closely by industry insiders and fans alike, with many speculating about potential partnerships or chassis providers.
