Apple Unveils Enhanced AirPods with Studio-Quality Audio Recording and Camera Remote

Apple has unveiled studio-quality audio recording and camera remote features for its latest wireless earbuds. The new updates aim to enhance content creation and communication capabilities.

AirPods 4, AirPods Pro 2, and their Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) versions will support studio-quality audio recording, allowing creators like podcasters, singers, and interviewers to record high-quality vocals on the go. This feature uses the H2 chip’s beamforming microphones and computational audio for clearer sound.

Additionally, users can now take photos or start video recordings remotely using their AirPods as a camera remote. Pressing and holding the AirPods stem triggers a photo or video recording, while another press-and-hold stops the recording.

The new features will be available through Apple’s Developer Program starting today, with a public beta launching next month. They will also receive a free firmware update this fall with iOS 26, iPadOS 26, and macOS Tahoe 26. However, some features may not be available in all languages or regions due to local laws and regulations.
