Cadillac has introduced the Optiq-V, its first electric vehicle (EV) to feature native Tesla Supercharger support. The performance variant boasts 519 horsepower, 650 lb-ft of torque, and a 0-60 mph acceleration time of 3.5 seconds in Velocity Max mode.
The Optiq-V’s NACS port enables seamless charging with tens of thousands of Tesla Superchargers worldwide, marking a significant shift away from dongle-dependent charging adapters. This innovation aims to provide GM’s EV customers with a more efficient and user-friendly charging experience.
Design-wise, the Optiq-V retains its sibling’s overall appearance but gains sporty touches through an optional carbon fiber package. The vehicle features 21-inch satin graphite alloy wheels, Brembo brake calipers, and low-profile tires. Additional updates include a tighter steering feel and enhanced suspension, as well as a “unique sound experience” that simulates the engine growl from a combustion engine.
The Optiq-V will be available in the US, Canada, Mexico, the Middle East, and Israel, starting at $68,795. It joins Cadillac’s growing electric lineup, which now includes the Lyriq-V. The EV’s release follows GM’s efforts to establish a more streamlined charging infrastructure for its electric vehicles.
