Hamas has issued a warning to aid workers operating in Gaza, threatening “severe consequences” if they continue to partner with Israel’s aid distribution efforts. The threat came after the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF) announced it had distributed over 1 million meals across the Gaza Strip on Sunday.
In a statement signed by the ‘Palestinian Resistance Factions’, Hamas condemned the continuation of aid centers, claiming that Israel is trying to end UNRWA’s mission and transform the Palestinian cause into a relief and humanitarian issue. The group warned all Palestinians against being lured by false promises from the Israeli occupation and its allies.
The GHF had allowed Gazan merchants to distribute food boxes to citizens, in addition to humanitarian aid centers in Rafah. Despite the threat, distribution at all sites occurred without incident, with over 1 million meals distributed across the three sites and a direct community distribution on Sunday.
