Red Sox Welcome Top Prospect Roman Anthony to Boston

Boston Red Sox prospects Marcelo Mayer and Roman Anthony are set to reunite in the majors. Weeks after promoting Mayer, the team is calling up Anthony on Monday. According to reports, Anthony was spotted confirming his arrival with a video shared by MassLive’s Katie Morrison-O’Day.

Mayer will now experience his teammate’s major league debut through their interactions. The Boston Globe’s Alex Speier reported Mayer’s reaction to the news: “I’m super excited for him.” Fans are also eager to see Anthony join Mayer and Kristian Campbell, who form the “Big Three” of Red Sox prospects.

Anthony impressed in Triple-A with a .288 batting average and 10 home runs. His power-hitting was showcased when he belted a grand slam at an exit velocity of 115.6 mph. The outfielder’s arrival comes as Wilyer Abreu, who hit his first career home run recently, is expected to go on the injured list.

The Red Sox will host Anthony, Mayer, and Campbell together for Tuesday’s game against the Tampa Bay Rays.
