A team of scientists has discovered a groundbreaking theory that challenges the conventional understanding of black holes and the universe’s origins. Led by Prof Enrique GaztaƱaga, they claim that gravitational collapse does not necessarily end in a singularity, but rather can bounce back into an expanding phase.
This new model, known as “Black Hole Universe,” suggests that a collapsing cloud of matter can reach a high-density state and then rebound outward, creating a universe remarkably similar to our own. The theory also predicts accelerated expansion driven by the physics of the bounce itself, not by a hypothetical field.
The team’s work contradicts long-held assumptions made by physicists like Roger Penrose and Stephen Hawking, which stated that gravitational collapse inside a black hole must lead to a singularity. Instead, matter does not need to be compressed infinitely; it just needs to bounce back.
The Black Hole Universe theory aligns with both general relativity and quantum physics, resolving the long-standing challenge of making the Big Bang theory compatible with these fundamental forces of nature. The team’s findings also offer a new perspective on humanity’s place in the cosmos, suggesting that our universe is not special, but part of a larger cosmic cycle.
The concept of the universe existing inside a black hole was first proposed in 1972 by Raj Kumar Pathria, an Indian theoretical physicist. Recent observations by the James Webb Space Telescope have reignited interest in this idea. The team’s research also sheds light on anomalies observed in galaxy rotation and the potential for “baby universes” connected through wormholes.
