McDonald’s Declares E. coli Outbreak Over, Vows to Regain Trust

McDonald’s has declared the deadly E. coli outbreak linked to their Quarter Pounders over, with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) giving the all-clear. The fast-food chain’s president, Joe Erlinger, apologized to customers who were harmed by the incident and announced new plans to restore consumer trust.

The outbreak, which was linked to raw slivered onions used on Quarter Pounders in about 900 restaurants in Colorado and surrounding states, prompted McDonald’s to take swift action. The company stopped using the supplier facility from which the onions came and sourcing onions from the farm.

Erlinger emphasized food safety as a top priority and stated that rebuilding trust with consumers will be an ongoing process. He also discussed plans for the new year, including the rollout of McValue, a cost-conscious-driven concept with value offerings on menu items, and the return of the popular Snack Wrap in 2025.

McDonald’s has taken decisive action to address the E. coli outbreak and is committed to regaining customer trust. With ongoing efforts to improve food safety and introduce new concepts, the fast-food chain aims to rebuild its reputation.
