Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 7 has been given the green light by the US Federal Communications Commission (FCC), with a certification confirming its internal Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset. The device, bearing model number SM-F966B, is expected to be powered by Qualcomm’s latest silicon.
The FCC filing also supports the inclusion of 5G, Wi-Fi 7, Ultra-Wide Band (UWB), wireless charging, and reverse wireless charging in the Galaxy Z Fold 7. These features align with earlier rumors and spec leaks, further solidifying the device’s expected specifications.
Design-wise, the Fold 7 is rumored to borrow elements from the limited-edition Fold Special Edition, resulting in a slightly slimmer and lighter body with a wider cover screen. The main display is said to be an 8.2-inch foldable AMOLED with a 120Hz refresh rate, while the cover display measures 6.5 inches.
Camera hardware details are scarce, but existing reports suggest a triple-camera setup on the rear, including a 200MP main sensor and 10MP 3x telephoto lens. The front camera consists of two units: a 10MP selfie camera on the cover screen and a 4MP under-display camera on the foldable screen.
Battery life is expected to be around 4400mAh, supporting wireless charging and power sharing. Software-wise, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 is rumored to run Android 16 with One UI 8.0. The device’s launch event is set to take place in early July, likely alongside the Galaxy Z Flip 7 and new Galaxy Watch 8 lineup.
