Dementia Risk Soars for Americans Over 55

The risk of developing dementia has significantly increased, with 42% of Americans over 55 estimated to develop the condition during their lifetime. A recent study published in Nature Medicine reveals that this number is on the rise. As of 2020, more than 500,000 people had already been diagnosed with dementia. By 2060, this number is expected to double.

Experts emphasize that lifestyle changes can help reduce the risk of developing dementia. Maintaining a healthy diet, engaging in regular exercise, and keeping the mind active through activities such as learning a musical instrument or participating in puzzles are key factors in mitigating this risk.
