JetZero Invests $4.7 Billion, Creates 14,500 Jobs in North Carolina

Aircraft maker JetZero has selected Greensboro, North Carolina, as the site for its massive factory investment, which is expected to bring over 14,500 jobs to the area. The company plans to build a state-of-the-art manufacturing and final assembly facility for its blended-wing-body jet, Z4.

The $4.7 billion investment will be one of the largest economic development projects in North Carolina history, according to Governor Josh Stein’s office. The project includes over $1.1 billion in state performance incentives and an additional $450 million in infrastructure improvements to Piedmont Triad International Airport.

JetZero aims to start building the factory within the first six months of next year and plans to produce up to 20 planes per month by the late 2030s. The Z4 plane is designed with a unique interior space, accommodating up to 250 passengers, and is expected to have a fuel efficiency advantage over traditional commercial planes.

The company’s CEO, Tom O’Leary, said in a statement that the facility is a critical milestone in bringing the all-wing Z4 to market. JetZero has partnered with Delta Air Lines and has received investments from major carriers such as Alaska Airlines and United Airlines.
