Apple’s AI-infused Siri update has been delayed until at least spring 2026, according to reports from Bloomberg. The new version of Siri was first announced in March 2024 but is now unlikely to be released before the end of next year.
The updated Siri will have improved capabilities, including the ability to understand content and context within apps, and perform actions such as referencing emails for flight information or embedding photos in documents on its own. However, Apple has attributed the delay to it not meeting their standards.
There is also internal disagreement between marketing and engineering teams over who is at fault for the delay. The company’s initial hype around the new Siri may have been misplaced, with advertising campaigns being pulled in March due to feature gaps.
In contrast, Apple’s focus on AI was more muted at WWDC 2025, with the only notable mention of Siri coming from the updated Spotlight feature in macOS 26, which shares similar technology with the delayed assistant.
