Stamos Reveals Break of Brian Wilson’s Death to Mike Love

Beach Boys co-founder Mike Love and his cousin, legendary musician Brian Wilson, were incredibly close. When John Stamos broke the news of Wilson’s death to Love at the airport on Wednesday, June 11, it was a “heartbreaking” moment for both men. The family announced Wilson’s passing, who was 82 years old, on the same day. Stamos has been performing with the Beach Boys since 1985 and paid tribute to Love at his induction into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in New York City. The two performed a medley of classic hits, including “California Girls” and “Good Vibrations.” When asked about Wilson’s contributions to the band, Stamos called him the “biggest genius that ever walked this earth.” Love also praised Wilson as a “mastermind” behind iconic tracks like “Pet Sounds.” As the news of Wilson’s death spread, many celebrities, including Bruce Springsteen and Elton John, paid tribute to his legacy.
