Bezos-Sanchez Wedding to Highlight Venice’s Artisanal Heritage

Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez are set to marry in Venice, Italy later this month, with the couple planning to put the spotlight on the city’s artisanal heritage during their three-day wedding celebration. The pair has sourced 80% of their provisions from Venetian vendors.

Historic companies Rosa Salva and Laguna B will provide artisanal touches to the event, including traditional Venetian pastries and handblown Murano glass. Antonio Rosa Salva, a sixth-generation baker, welcomed the order as recognition of his family’s long tradition of baking Venetian specialties dating back nearly 150 years.

Rosa Salva’s family business caters large events for up to 1,000 people in Venice and sees tourism as quality, not disruption. Meanwhile, Laguna B is committed to community building and protecting Venice’s artisanal heritage through their unique glassware designs.

Despite the excitement, protesters have taken out posters in St. Mark’s Square criticizing the use of the city for a high-profile wedding due to concerns over mass tourism. However, city officials assure that services will function normally during the event, and Mayor Luigi Brugnaro is thrilled at the opportunity to host the couple.
