Tesla has launched new versions of its iconic Model S and X vehicles in the US market. The updated models boast a range of improvements, including a quieter interior thanks to enhanced Active Noise Cancellation technology and dynamic ambient lighting with unique animations.
The Model S Long Range version now boasts an impressive range of up to 410 miles, although this is only slightly longer than its predecessor. The new exterior styling on the Model S Plaid has been optimized for high-speed stability. Meanwhile, the Model X features more space for third-row passengers and cargo, as well as a new front bumper camera for improved visibility.
However, these updates come with a higher price tag, with the base Model S costing at least $84,990 and the base Model Y priced at least $89,990. Customers can also opt for larger wheels, starting from 20-inch models, but this will incur an additional cost of $4,500.
Despite the upgrades, it remains to be seen whether these changes will persuade consumers to choose the older Model S and X over newer variants like the Model 3 and Model Y, which were much more popular last year. The company sold around 50,000 Model S and X vehicles globally in 2022, a far cry from its deliveries of over 1.7 million Model 3 and Model Y units.
