Air India Flight 171 Black Box Recovery Boosts Probe

The second black box of Air India flight AI171 has been recovered, officials said, as the investigation into the deadly crash continues. The cockpit voice recorder and flight data recorder were found in addition to the first black box, which aids in identifying the cause of the fatal accident that claimed around 270 lives.

The Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) and Airports Authority of India (AAI) have confirmed the recovery of the devices. Dr. P K Mishra, the principal secretary to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, inspected the crash site on Sunday and met with officials from various agencies involved in the relief and investigation efforts.

Mishra expressed his condolences for the victims and reiterated the government’s commitment to supporting their families and coordinating a response across all agencies. The U.S. National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) is also conducting a parallel probe under international protocols, given that the aircraft was American-made.
