Iran Strikes Back, Israel Defends

A surge in Iranian missile attacks against Israeli targets has escalated tensions in the region. According to reports from the Critical Threats Project (CTP) and the Institute for the Study of War (ISW), Iran launched five additional ballistic missiles at Israel since CTP’s last data cutoff on June 16.

The Iranian military struck an Israeli Military Intelligence School in Camp Moshe Dayan in Tel Aviv, causing damage to a warehouse. The IDF has also intercepted several drones that crossed into Israeli airspace since June 16.

Israel continued its strike campaign against Iranian targets, targeting military infrastructure across Iran and sites tied to the Iranian missile program. The IDF destroyed dozens of ballistic missile and drone storage and launch sites in western Iran overnight between June 16 and 17.

The strikes killed Major General Ali Shadmani, a newly appointed commander of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps’ aerospace division. This marks a significant escalation in the conflict between the two nations.

Iran has reportedly launched approximately 20 missiles in recent barrages, with at least one striking a parking lot in central Israel and injuring five people. The IDF has intercepted around 30 drones that were launched at Israel overnight on June 16 and 17.

The situation remains fluid, with both sides engaging in a cycle of retaliation and defense. As tensions continue to escalate, it is essential for regional leaders and the international community to take note of the increasing danger and work towards de-escalation efforts.
