Honda Motor Co. is recalling over 259,000 vehicles in the US due to a potentially life-threatening brake pedal flaw. The affected models include Acura TLX, MDX, and Pilot SUVs from 2021-2025. The issue arises when a misplaced pin on the brake pedal arm can cause it to shift out of position, increasing the risk of a crash or injury.
Only about 1% of recalled cars are expected to have the defect, but Honda is taking action out of caution. Affected customers will need to visit a dealership for a free inspection and replacement parts if necessary.
This recall follows several other safety bulletins issued by Honda in recent years, with over 2.7 million vehicles recalled in 2024 alone. The company has struggled with recalls, but has seen significant sales growth, particularly among SUV buyers.
Other automakers, including Ford, Chrysler, Volkswagen, Mercedes-Benz, and General Motors, have also been affected by recalls this year. Honda’s CEO, Toshihiro Mibe, will send notification letters to affected owners on July 28.
