Lamar Jackson Secures Jaire Alexander with One-Year Deal

NFL star quarterback Lamar Jackson has successfully lured Jaire Alexander to Baltimore with a one-year deal worth $4 million, reuniting the two with their college roots at Louisville. The 28-year-old cornerback, who was one of the league’s top players before injuries plagued him in recent years, will provide a boost to the Ravens’ cornerback group.

Alexander signed on Wednesday afternoon, after reportedly turning down more lucrative offers from other teams. He joins a talented room led by four-time Pro Bowler Marlon Humphrey and second-year pro Nate Wiggins. Alexander is expected to play opposite Wiggins on the outside, with Humphrey inside.

The signing comes as Jackson had been vocal about his desire for Alexander since the Packers released him in June. General Manager Eric DeCosta took note of Jackson’s enthusiasm, leading to the deal being finalized. Alexander has a reputation for physicality and covering top receivers, but injuries have limited his playing time over the past four years.

Ravens defensive coordinator Zach Orr now has more flexibility in mixing and matching players in the secondary with Alexander added to the mix. Despite health concerns, Alexander was ranked as the NFL’s ninth-best cornerback by Pro Football Focus entering the 2025 season.
