Sean “Diddy” Combs’ sex trafficking trial has been temporarily halted after a juror became ill, forcing the court to consider whether the juror will be excused for an extended period. The judge has asked the deputy to confirm the juror’s condition, but believes it may have been a sudden issue.
The trial had already faced challenges with Juror No. 6 being dismissed due to inconsistencies in their statements about residency. Despite concerns from Combs’ defense team about diversity and potential mistrial, the court ruled that race should not influence its decisions. A warning was issued by Judge Arun Subramanian after a violation of the court’s sealing order revealed information about the second juror issue.
The government has filed a letter expressing no opposition to further fact-finding with another Combs trial juror due to possible communications with a former colleague regarding jury service. The prosecution is open to questioning the second juror, but disagrees with the defense’s assertion that removing Juror No. 6 should also lead to the excusal of this new juror.
The court’s stern warning on Tuesday came after jurors’ drama continued in court, highlighting the need for adherence to the court’s rules and sealing orders.
