Rep. Ilhan Omar has been criticized by Clay Travis, co-founder of OutKick, a Fox-owned sports website, after she described the United States as “one of the worst countries” under President Donald Trump’s leadership.
Omar made these remarks in response to Trump’s crackdown on anti-ICE protests in Los Angeles, where the president sent in National Guard and Marines to support local law enforcement. Omar grew up in a dictatorship in Somalia before arriving in the US as an asylum seeker at age 12.
Travis took offense to Omar’s comments and told her to “go back to Somalia.” He suggested that if she hated the country where she lived, wouldn’t she move to another one? Travis has described himself as a “radical moderate” but has been critical of Omar for criticizing Israeli lobbying interests in Washington.
The conversation between Travis and Hannity also took a personal turn, with Travis mocking actress Rosie O’Donnell for relocating to Ireland rather than staying in the US during Trump’s presidency.
OutKick has reached out to Omar for comment on her remarks, but she remains silent at this time.
