Mars Enters Spring Triangle This Week

Mars is now visible in the night sky as part of the Spring Triangle, a formation of three bright stars in the northern hemisphere. The triangle includes Spica, Arcturus, and Regulus, which are found in different constellations.

To see Mars in the Spring Triangle, look for it on the west after sunset, starting June 18. The Red Planet will be close to the star Regulus, with less than 1 degree separating them. Over time, Mars will move along the edge of the triangle until mid-September, when it leaves Spica.

Stargazers can find a telescope or binoculars to enhance their view, or use smartphone apps that utilize augmented reality to navigate the night sky. To explore the best options for stargazing gear and apps, visit Space.com’s guides.
