US Jobless Claims Remain Near Record Highs

The number of US jobless claims decreased by 5,000 to 245,000 in the week ended June 14, stabilizing near record highs for eight months. Continuing claims, a measure of those receiving benefits, also dropped slightly to 1.95 million in the previous week, according to Labor Department data.
