Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid expressed optimism about the recovery of two key players, receiver Rashsee Rice and rookie offensive tackle Josh Simmons, ahead of training camp in July. Both Rice and Simmons suffered season-ending knee injuries during their final years at Ohio State and are expected to be healthy for the start of training camp.
Rice, who started 2024 strong after a solid rookie season, is recovering from a knee injury that ended his season last year. Reid praised Rice’s work ethic, saying he “worked his tail off” to get back in shape. Simmons, drafted 32nd overall, also suffered a season-ending knee injury during his final year at Ohio State. However, Reid believes Simmons has the potential to start this year due to his athletic ability and strong attitude.
Reid noted that while Simmons’ rehab was impressive, it’s unclear how he’ll perform in training camp with full contact and pads on. Tight end Jared Wiley, who suffered a torn ACL during practice last season, is also likely to be ready for camp after a successful rehab period. The positive injury update bodes well for the Chiefs as they prepare for the upcoming season.
