Tigers Drop Series Against Rays 8-3

The Detroit Tigers concluded their three-game weekend series against the Tampa Bay Rays with a loss on Sunday afternoon. The team’s second consecutive lackluster start hurt them, as they trailed 5-0 by the end of the second inning. Despite scoring some runs later in the game, they ultimately fell short, losing 8-3.

The Tigers managed six hits but were unable to overcome the early deficit. Junior Caminero, Chris Morel, and Danny Jensen each hit home runs for the Rays, who remain second in the AL East behind the New York Yankees. The loss shrunk the Tigers’ lead atop the American League Central to 8.5 games.

Casey Mize is set to start for the Tigers on Sunday, while Zack Littell takes the mound for the Rays.
