US President Donald Trump has made history by joining Israel in military operations against Iranian nuclear facilities. The partnership came after months of intense US-Israeli coordination over Tehran’s nuclear program.
On Saturday, Trump announced the unprecedented strikes, praising his collaboration with Prime Minister Bibi Netanyahu and congratulating him on the operation’s success. The joint efforts included Israeli airstrikes in southern Iran to degrade Iranian defenses before the US military operation.
The US then provided Israel with a list of air defense systems to eliminate ahead of the strike. In the 48 hours leading up to the operation, Israeli forces conducted several strikes to minimize risk to incoming US B-2 bombers en route to Fordow, a deeply buried nuclear facility targeted by 30,000-pound bunker-buster bombs.
Trump’s next goal is to reach a deal with Iran and secure peace, despite expressing concern about potential Iranian retaliation. He informed Netanyahu that the US would not continue strikes if Iran retaliated against US forces but is willing to do so in defense of its interests.
The operation marks a significant escalation in Israel’s efforts to eliminate Iran’s nuclear program. The US military has also conducted airstrikes on Iran’s nuclear facilities, with President Trump describing it as a “spectacular military success.”
