United Airlines Offers Free Fantasy Flights to North Pole Wonderland

United Airlines is partnering with Make-A-Wish Illinois and Cal’s Angels to offer free fantasy flights to children with critical illnesses. The airline has transformed 13 gates at US airports into a “North Pole” winter wonderland, complete with real reindeer, elves, and Santa Claus.

Over 65 children and their families boarded United planes decorated for the holidays and took off on short flights from Chicago O’Hare, landing at a gate that doubled as the North Pole. The event was part of a year-long initiative to uplift children and their families through the joy of the holiday season.

United’s executive vice president Kate Gebo said the company is honored to support the communities where they live and work by making the North Pole closer than ever. The airline has also partnered with Make-A-Wish America for flights from Denver, Cleveland, Houston, and Guam.

Donations are being accepted until the end of the year, with United matching up to 5 million miles and $500,000 in “travel certificates”. Illy coffee is offering a donation of $1 for each cold brew sold on United flights during December.
