Actor Dermot Mulroney has filed for divorce from his wife, Prima Apollinaare, after 15 years of marriage. According to court documents obtained by PEOPLE, Mulroney cited irreconcilable differences and requested joint custody of their two daughters.
The pair met in 2008 and have been married since December 2010. Mulroney, who is also a professional cellist, has asked for the couple’s assets to be split fairly, with all community earnings considered during their marriage.
Despite rumors of disagreements over money and children, sources close to the couple say that they are amicably separating and have used mediators to resolve issues, rather than lawyers. Apollinaare, originally from Italy, is a singer-songwriter who has worked on Mulroney’s film projects in the past.
The news comes as a surprise, given the couple’s seemingly happy marriage. However, insiders claim that they are “not arguing over the children nor money” and have instead chosen to prioritize their daughters’ well-being.
