Netflix Ditches Indie Mobile Games Amid Strategy Shift

Netflix is removing several indie mobile games from its platform next month as part of an ongoing shift in its video game division. The titles will be leaving on July 1 and July 14, including popular games like “Hades” and “Monument Valley.”

The move comes a few months after Netflix unveiled its forward-looking gaming strategy to journalists at the 2025 Game Developers Conference. The company plans to focus on four key categories: mainstream, narrative, kids’, and party games. Netflix games chief Alain Tascan aims to support new and existing IP while expanding the service to TVs and phone apps.

The removal of these indie mobile games is part of a larger strategy shift for Netflix. In October 2024, the company shut down its Team Blue studio, which was developing a shooter title. The exit of Netflix gaming lead Mike Verdu in February further signaled this change.
